Review: Ray-Ban Meta(Gen2)
Personal핸드폰·에어팟·선글라스를 안경 하나로 합친 경험은 훌륭했지만, AI 비서와 가격은 아직 갈 길이 남았다.

I bought a pair of Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 (Wayfarer, Large, Transitions lenses) after trying them on at a Ray-Ban store during a family trip to Italy, where a store promotion brought the price down significantly. I wanted to try voice-first AI, capture my kids hands-free, and get an early taste of what I think will replace the phone as the main AI interface: glasses or earbuds.

Instead of carrying a phone, AirPods, and sunglasses, I just bring the glasses. Still, factoring in weight, comfort on long days outdoors, and current AI quality, I wouldn't buy it at full price, or the newer Gen 3 at its current price.

핵심 정리
- 촬영 습관이 바뀌었다. 핸드폰을 꺼낼 필요가 없으니 평소보다 훨씬 많이, 길게 가족들의 모습을 영상으로 남겼다.
- 카메라 특성을 알고 써야 한다. 카메라는 중앙이 아니라 오른쪽에 있고, 세로로 찍힌다. 수동 초점이 안 돼서 근접·원거리 촬영은 한계가 있다.
- 촬영 LED는 양날의 검. 프라이버시를 위해 꼭 필요한 기능이지만, 실내에서는 사람들이 쳐다보는 느낌 때문에 오히려 내가 남을 의식하게 됐다.
- 전송은 실시간이 아니다. 안경에 저장했다가 폰으로 옮기는 방식이고, 블루투스와 와이파이를 모두 켜야 한다.
- AI 비서는 아직 가장 약한 부분. 지역별 지원 여부가 다르고 인터넷이 필요하다. 날씨나 "이 건물이 뭐야?" 같은 간단한 기능은 잘 됐지만, ChatGPT·Claude에 비하면 모델 성능이 아쉽고 연동 기능은 불안정했다. 그래도 소프트웨어 제약은 하드웨어보다 빨리 해결될 거라고 본다. 결론: 가장 큰 장점은 카메라·스피커·마이크·선글라스가 하나로 합쳐졌다는 점이다. 핸드폰, 에어팟, 선글라스를 따로 챙기던 걸 이제 선글라스 하나로 끝낸다. 다만 무게와 두께, AI 성능까지 고려하면 할인 없이 정가로 사거나 3세대를 현재 가격에 살지는 부정적이다. 아직은 비싸다.
